Concha Jerez, nacida en España en 1941, es una artista conceptual cuyo trabajo transita entre la performance, la instalación y el arte sonoro.
La experiencia de trabajar con una artista que le da materialidad a lo efímero, que transforma y materializa la acción, supone un reto que Galería Freijo ha podido documentar. Acercarnos al proceso transformado en obra. Registrar esa manera de hacer permanente lo efímero.

Sus montajes expositivos son algo performático, que dota de un sonido especial a los trabajos con rollos de papel, elegidos por ella de manera puntual, para que ese sonido sea en sí mismo una pieza, obra procesual.
Y las instalaciones además de una parte sonora arrojan imágenes de la artista, que en el proceso instalativo actúan como imágenes performáticas. Como obra materializada.

Sus instalaciones, permutadas una y otra vez según el espacio que las aloja, conforman la materialidad de lo efímero.

Ser testigos a veces pasivos y otros activos, de este proceso emocionante que nos ha motivado a aterrizar un archivo que contiene video, arte sonoro y fotografía. Un archivo que nos introduce en su trabajo performático.

La autocensura como parte central de su trabajo se extiende por los muros, sobre los periódicos, en las columnas, sobre los cristales rotos, en las paredes de los museos, sobre el papel… La acción al realizarlo, ella misma, sola, es otra obra en sí misma. Otra obra diferente pero materializada, en cada caso. La importancia del proceso. 

Al registrar sus instalaciones y referenciar el historial de exposiciones observamos como la obra se va modificando, añadiendo, disminuyendo, transformándose. Así, la idea concreta va creciendo en detalles, aristas y conceptos. De esta forma, sus piezas se convierten en obra viva que transita por la vida y las miradas y que se acomoda a los espacios museísticos, como si en cada caso, quisiera quedarse. Site specifics.

By documenting her installations and referencing her exhibition history, we observe how the work is modified, how it incorporates new elements, diminishes, transforms. Thus, new details, edges and concepts grow on the concrete idea.
